WV Trying to Lower Deer/ Vehicle Collisions

West Virginia is a state that often has a problem with drivers hitting animals such as deer and moose. During the winter months, it gets dark much earlier which is why these collisions often occur. One reason behind the number of accidents is that deer and other wildlife have limited habitats and find it hard to find food. They often wander into the road and are afraid of headlights so they often freeze and drivers who are unaware of their presence often end up hitting the animals and killing them.

 

This can cause a lot of damage to the vehicle, especially the front end which takes the brunt of the overall impact.

Study finds that GDL laws need to be enacted in all 50 states

Every parent is nervous when their teenager gets their drivers license. Now a new study has found that if each of the fifty states enacted the graduate driver licensing then teens would be safer when on the road and money would be saved.

This is a program where teens get a graduated license until they turn 18 and get a normal drivers license. The GDL license has restrictions such as teens not being able to drive after certain night time hours.

Study: Paid Sick Days Could Lower Healthcare Costs

A new report issued by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research found that access to paid sick days could save $1 billion each year in medical costs. WI Making Mistake with Adjustments to Auto Insurance Minimums?

Many states have examined their minimum requirements for auto insurance coverage. A majority of these states have increased their requirements or have lowered them slightly in order to give drivers some relief. The state of Wisconsin is taking the radical step by lowering their minimum requirements by half. Drivers in the state will now be required to have $25,000 in liability coverage per person and $50,000 for each accident. The new law was instituted in response to drivers wanting lower car insurance premiums. Drivers who have poor driving records will save a lot of money each month on their car insurance premiums but people with excellent driving records will barely see a change in their insurance premiums and they will have half as much coverage.
